Miami lands a commitment from 4-star in-state WR Somourian Wingo

St. Augustine (Fla.) wide receiver Somourian Wingo had it down to Florida, Miami and South Carolina. He took official visits to each school and the four-star has committed to Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes.
“The No. 1 biggest thing I love about Miami are the people,” Wingo told Rivals. “I love everyone there and I built a relationship with everyone from the staff to the players and assistants at Miami. I love the culture too. That was another reason why I chose Miami. How everything is operated at Miami is something I really like too. Then it is the city… I love that too. Who doesn’t?”
Wingo is excited about the future in Coral Gables. He sees what Mario Cristobal is building there and after receiving 37 offers, the No. 141 prospect in the Rivals Industry Ranking is set on being a Hurricane.
“This is it for me,” Wingo said. “After I took all of my official visits, I knew it was Miami because of the people there. I love the people at all three of my final schools, but with Miami, it was on a different level. Everyone at Miami is like family, and we built that because they have been recruiting me the longest.

“I am locked in with Miami.”
The staff at Miami had a big impact on Wingo’s decision
The Gators were the other in state school on Wingo’s list, but finishing a close second was South Carolina. The Gamecocks never gave up, but since offering on March 22, the Hurricanes have been high on the list and Kevin Beard was a big reason why.
“I have the strongest relationship with coach Beard. What I like about him is his loyalty and consistency. He constantly calls me, almost every day, and he never stopped. He never stopped recruiting me. Coach Beard was always reminding me that I’m a top priority and he’s willing to do whatever to get me.”
The head coach had an impact on this decision too.
“Coach Cristobal is a straightforward, honest guy. I appreciate that he was highly involved with my recruitment as well. I think that was a huge separation, having the head coach recruit me.”
