The X Factors: WR Ashton-Bethel Roman

In this series, we’re looking at 10 players who could have a major impact on the success or failure of the 2025 Texas A&M football team. Some are starters, some aren’t — but they’re certainly not getting the attention they deserve. Next up is wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman.
Class: Redshirt freshman
Height/Weight: 6 foot, 186 pounds
2024 stats: 4 catches, 44 yards, 1 TD in four games
Why he’s so important: All you have to do to figure this one out is listen to Mike Elko or Collin Klein talk about him.
“You know, you look at a guy like Ashton Bethel-Roman being in the program for a year, how he’s developed, and some of the things that he’s put on tape … (are things) we’ve been really, really excited about,” Klein said. “And he’s got some real, real home run potential and top end speed, but still being able to have that top end gear and be able to detail his routes like he’s doing, and how he’s done, and the development he’s had over the last year has been great.”
The Aggies have a short group of receivers, so Bethel-Roman is an asset with his height alone. But his speed and his precise route-running have taken him from a player who might see playing time to a likely starter. Bethel-Roman didn’t appear to have a single bad day during training camp and has shown dedication to his craft. With defenses likely keying on KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, Bethel-Roman is a weapon that opponents may under-appreciate — until he burns them.
