Billy Edwards, Jake Renfro Ruled Out Against Michigan
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Wisconsin (2-2, 0-1) will not have senior quarterback Billy Edwards against No. 20 Michigan (3-1, 1-0) on Saturday. The senior signal caller was ruled out for the Big Ten Conference clash prior to kickoff, according to the official injury report.
Edwards suffered a knee injury in the season opener versus Miami (OH). He returned for the Big Ten opener against Maryland, but reaggravated the injury and only saw seven snaps of action. Sophomore quarterback Danny O’Neil, who has thrown for 640 yards and five touchdowns to five interceptions, will get the start under center.
As Badger Blitz reported Friday night, senior center Jake Renfro (ankle) has been ruled out for the second consecutive game. Sources tell Badger Blitz to look for a change at center on Saturday. Senior Davis Heinzen, who opened the season at left tackle, could get the nod in place of Renfro.
Head coach Luke Fickell confirmed Monday that senior safety Preston Zachman would miss the Michigan game. Junior defensive lineman Charles Perkins has also been ruled out.
Redshirt freshman tailback Dilin Jones, who left UW’s last outing against Maryland. Jones is not listed on the Wisconsin injury report. Junior tight end Tucker Ashcraft has been upgraded to questionable. Ashcraft, who suffered an injury in fall camp, has not played this season. Senior center Kerry Kodanko is also a game-time decision.
Wisconsin and Michigan kick off at 11 a.m. CT. Fox will have the call live from Ann Arbor. Saturday marks the first meeting between the two schools in 2021.
