Wisconsin Injury Report: Jake Renfro Set to Return Against Iowa

MADISON, Wis. — As reported by Badger Blitz earlier this week, senior center Jake Renfro will return for Wisconsin (2-3, 0-2) against Iowa (3-2, 1-1) in Saturday’s battle for the Heartland Trophy. The Badgers released their pre-game injury report, revealing that Renfro is good to go after missing the last two games with an ankle injury.
Also, as Badger Blitz reported Friday, starting quarterback Billy Edwards (knee) will remain out for the second consecutive week and fourth game overall this season. Wisconsin is expected to start senior Hunter Simmons under center. In his first career start for the Badgers last week, Simmons went 8-of-29 passing for 177 yards and an interception in a 24-10 loss at Michigan.
Per the injury report, Wisconsin will also be without senior safety Preston Zachman, who will miss a third consecutive game. Senior cornerback D’Yoni Hill, junior wide receiver Joseph Griffin, and senior offensive tackle Leyton Nelson have also been ruled out.
Junior defensive lineman Charles Perkins was upgraded to questionable. Senior wide receiver Dekel Crowdus is also a game-time decision.
For Iowa, the Hawkeyes got some good news as starting quarterback Mark Gronowski was not listed on the injury report. Gronowski was considered a game-time decision during the week.
Iowa and Wisconsin will kick off at 6 p.m. CT. FS1 will have the call live from Camp Randall Stadium.
