Iowa State’s Becht, Konrardy Earn Big 12 Weekly Honors After Record Performances

Cyclone quarterback Rocco Becht and kicker Kyle Konrardy were named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively, the conference announced Tuesday following Iowa State’s 55-7 victory over South Dakota.
Five Cyclones have received weekly conference honors this season. It is the second career Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week award for Konrardy.
Becht, a Wesley Chapel (Fla.) Wiregrass alum, completed 19 of 20 passes for a school-record 95 percent completion rate. The mark tied Baker Mayfield’s 2017 performance against UTEP for the second-best single-game completion percentage in Big 12 history. Becht threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns. Over the past 15 seasons, only 10 Football Bowl Subdivision quarterbacks have finished a game with at least 95 percent completion, three touchdown passes and 20 attempts.
Konrardy delivered a 63-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter, setting records for the longest kick in school and Jack Trice Stadium history. The field goal ranks as the second longest in Big 12 history and is tied for ninth longest in NCAA history. It is only the third field goal of 63 yards or more in FBS play since 2000.
Konrardy finished 2-for-2 on field goals and 4-for-4 on extra points.
No. 16 Iowa State hosts Iowa in the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series on Saturday at 11 a.m. CDT on Fox.
