A few of the notables from Swinney’s post-practice comments:

— He said “we’ll see” on lineup changes at cornerback and nickel back.

Swinney has been critical of those positions this week, saying they’ve been “soft” and undisciplined on the perimeter.

“We’ll see. Been a good week of practice, good meetings. They all understand what they’ve got to do. Everybody’s got to do their part, do their job.”

— Swinney said 71 snaps for safety Ricardo Jones against Georgia Tech is “probably too many.”

“Coaches got to do a better job of that,” he said.

He noted that Kylon Griffin wasn’t in the game much, seeing four snaps of action. Griffin has played 30 snaps this season.

Jones has played 192 snaps in three games, Ronan Hanafin 189.

Tom Allen shared Tuesday that Griffin and nickel Shelton Lewis have had to work their way back after undergoing spring surgeries.

Swinney said both have been practicing well but need to get better.

“They both have good experience. We just need that depth to really not just be good depth, but compete and push everybody to win a job. It makes everybody better. They’ve had a good week.”

Lewis didn’t play a defensive snap against LSU before playing four snaps against Troy and 12 against Georgia Tech.

— Swinney was asked about Adam Randall’s workload.

“He ain’t had much of a workload. Are you kidding me? Don’t have much workload from a play-count standpoint. Everybody’s pretty fresh.”

Randall has played 157 of the offense’s 174 snaps in three games. He’s carried it 41 times, and backup running backs David Eziomume, Gideon Davidson and Keith Adams have combined for seven carries.

— Swinney was asked whether he’s spoken with AD Graham Neff or university president Jim Clements after his Tuesday press-conference sermons went viral.

“I didn’t talk to nobody,” he said. “I had no idea. I don’t pay attention to any of that stuff. I don’t have a clue. I just do what I’m supposed to do and y’all create whatever headlines from there.”

— He said the team has practiced well and responded well to being 1-2.

“We practiced well last week too. We’ve got to translate it to game day. It’s everybody making up their mind that they’re going to do it. We’ll find out on Saturday. … We just have to play to the standard around here. Period, the end. Doesn’t matter who we play. You’ve got to do what winning requires.”
