The 2024 Women’s College World Series is right around the corner. Softball America is ready to unveil its season-long awards and All-American teams.

Awards

Award Winner
Player of the Year Reese Atwood, Texas
Pitcher of the Year NiJaree Canady, Stanford
Freshman of the Year Jaysoni Beachum, Florida State
Defender of the Year Jocelyn Erickson, Florida
Most Improved Player of the Year CC Wong, Wichita State
Coaching Staff of the Year UCLA
  • Reese Atwood has been the best hitter for the top-seeded Longhorns this season. Atwood has set single-season program records in home runs (23) and RBI (90). Her 90 RBIs also lead the country.
  • NiJaree Canady guided Stanford to a second straight Women’s College World Series appearance with her nation-best 0.65 ERA. Opposing hitters have only batted .142 against Canady this year. She also leads the country with 310 strikeouts.
  • Jaysoni Beachum headlined a talented Florida State offense. The third baseman had a .417 average, 11 doubles 16 home runs and 66 RBIs this season for the Noles.
  • Jocelyn Erickson was more than a boost to the Florida lineup. The Gators’ backstop helped guide a youthful pitching staff to the Women’s College World Series and controlled the runner game, throwing out 13 runners and only allowing seven stolen bases.
  • CC Wong was a Player of the Year at McLennan Community College but it didn’t click for her at Grand Canyon. After only having 20 hits and zero home runs in 2023, Wong won the AAC Player of the Year in her first season with the Shockers with a .470 batting average, 14 doubles and 14 home runs.
  • Kelly Inouye-Perez decided to switch the roles of her coaching staff this offseason and invest in a mental coach for her program. Despite a slow start to the season, the Bruins have been a wrecking ball in the second half of the season as we’ve watched them grow.
