2025 Softball America Awards and All-Americans

The Softball America Awards and All-American list are here as we head into Super Regional weekend.
Player of the Year: Bri Ellis, Arkansas
Ellis, the SEC Player of the Year, has Arkansas two wins away from its first Women’s College World Series appearance. Ellis had a regular season similar to the seasons Jocelyn Alo had in 2021 and 2022 for Oklahoma. She set the single-season Arkansas home run (26) and RBI (72) record, along with a .457 batting average and 64 walks.
Pitcher of the Year: Karlyn Pickens, Tennessee
Pickens takes a 0.90 ERA and a 22-8 record into Super Regionals. According to our friends at 64Analytics, Pickens finished with a 1.94 FIP, a statistic that estimates a pitcher’s run prevention independent of the performance of their defense, which was the second-highest of all Power Four pitchers. She had wins over Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas to name a few, this season.
Freshman of the Year: Taylor Shumaker, Florida
When Tim Walton says your swing might be the best to come through the program, you’re likely destined for great things. Taylor Shumaker sits at a .387 batting average with 17 doubles, 21 home runs and 83 RBIs, the most of any freshman this season. During regionals, she broke the program’s freshman record for home runs and is inching toward the program’s single-season records in home runs and RBIs.

Most Improved Player of the Year: Lyndsey Grein, Oregon
Grein became the undisputed ace of the Oregon staff after transferring in from Virginia Tech. As the Ducks are set to host Super Regionals this weekend, Grein holds a 28-2 record, tied for the most wins of any Power Four pitcher, and five saves. She has a 2.15 ERA and 1.04 WHIP compared to
Coaching Staff of the Year: Ohio State
In Kirin Kumar’s first season in Columbus, Ohio State turned in a 45-15-1 record and made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022. The Buckeyes led the nation in home runs with 147, over 30 more than the next team and twice as many as they hit in 2024. Kumar and her staff also did it without much help from the transfer portal, rather developing the players who stayed and who trusted her.
