Arizona adds Big East Player of the Year Grace Jenkins

The Big East Player of the Year is heading west. Former UConn catcher Grace Jenkins has committed to Arizona. Jenkins joins a transfer class with infielder Sereniti Trice, outfielders Addison Duke, Tele Jennings, pitchers Jalen Adams and Jenae Berry.
Jenkins, originally from Folsom, Calif., has always hit for a good average, batting over .345 each of her first two seasons with the Huskies. She really turned it up a notch as a junior. Jenkins had a career-high in batting average (.432), doubles (16), home runs (16), RBI (55) and walks (35). She is also a superb defender behind the plate from the left side.

Arizona starting catcher Sydney Stewart also returns to Tucson. Jenkins likely won’t spend as much time behind the plate, potentially at first base or even the outfield. However, Arizona does now have two of the best backstops on one roster.
