Corona Angels, Firecrackers Select, OC Batbusters win Alliance Super Cup Series

The Alliance Super Cup Series presented by Evoshield was one of the many events held in Colorado this week. Eight teams from each of the 14u, 16u and 18u competed in the single-day tournament. Corona Angels Tyson (14u), Firecrackers Select Brashear (16u) and OC Batbusters Stith (18u) collected titles.

14u Super Cup

Quarterfinals 

Oklahoma Athletics 09 Madden/Ashbaugh 10, Top Gun National 14u 9

  • After falling behind 5-0 in the first, Oklahoma Athletics 09 Madden/Ashbaugh scored six unanswered runs to take the lead. The teams traded blows all the way to the sixth before Oklahoma Athletics 09 Madden/Ashbaugh won on a pair of passed balls in the sixth. Katie Drummond had a pair of hits and drove in four runs.

EC Bullets Cornett 5, Corona Angels MTS 4

  • EC Bullets Cornett found a walk-off single to advance to the semifinals. 

Corona Angels Tyson 5, Texas Bombers Gold 14u 3

  • Corona Angels Tyson built an early lead with two runs in both the second and third innings and held onto the lead from there. Samantha Nichols had three hits and two RBIs from the leadoff spot for Corona Angels Tyson.

Corona Angels Tyson 2, Breakers Labs – Keusch 1

  • This was a pitcher’s duel for most of the contest until a sixth-inning home run from Annabel Raftery gave the Angels the lead for good.

Corona Angels Tyson 9, Oklahoma Athletics 09 Madden/Ashbaugh 0

  • A dominating final effort from Corona Angels Tyson in a five-inning run-rule win. Arrianna Romero pitched three innings and struck out four, allowing one hit. Raftery drove in three runs. 

16u Super Cup

Impact Gold Jazz 16U 9, Rock Gold Manetta 5

Firecrackers Select Brashear 9, Buzz Gold 16u 8

  • After Peyton Philipp hit a grand slam to cap a seven-run second inning, Firecrackers Select Brashear responded with four runs of their own to tie the game. They found the game-winning run in the top of the fifth inning. Jaelyn Toledo and Ava Tapia both had three RBIs.

Firecrackers Select Brashear 7, Impact Gold Jazz 16U 6

  • Another thriller for Firecrackers Select Brashear. They had to rally for three runs in the bottom of the fifth to come out on top as Sienna Yamashita’s RBI single sealed the win. 

Williamsburg Starz Gold Bunn 16U 11, ai Bandits Breer 9 

  • The two teams combined for 17 runs by the second inning. Ultimately, Starz Gold’s 10-0 lead was too much to overcome. Delaware commit Maddie Diamond homered and drove in four for Starz Gold.

Firecrackers Select Brashear 11, Williamsburg Starz Gold Bunn 16U 3

  • Firecrackers Select Brashear decided to not make this one close, exploding for seven runs in the fifth inning. A grand slam by Ava Tapia closed things out after Firecrackers Select Brashear only took a one-run lead into the fifth inning. Kamryn Aoki also drove in three runs. 

18u Super Cup

Quarterfinals 

OC Batbusters Stith 12, VA Glory Willemssen 2

  • OC Batbusters Stith’s monster day started with four home runs from Florida-bound Taylor Shumaker, Oklahoma commit Kai Minor, UCF commit Izzy Mertes and BYU signee Breana Townsend.

Corona Angels Tyson 3, Impact Gold Jackson 18u 1

  • Ole Miss signee Miali Guachino came out on top of the pitcher’s duel with Arkansas commit Saylor Timmerman as she put Corona Angels Tyson into the semis with a complete game effort.

Oklahoma Athletics National Madden/Clemmer 8, Fury Platinum X Higdon 6

Aces Fastpitch 8, Crossfire Fastpitch Dwyer 5

Impact Gold Jackson 18u 11, VA Glory Willemssen 7

  • Arkansas signee Ella McDowell hit three home runs in the win for Impact Gold Jackson.

Fury Platinum X Higdon 5, Crossfire Fastpitch Dwyer 2

Semifinals 

OC Batbusters Stith 15, Corona Angels Tyson 8

  • There was no stopping the Batbusters offense. Minor, Mertes and Riley Hilliard combined to go 10-for-12 with 10 RBIs at the plate in the heart of the order.

Aces Fastpitch 11, Oklahoma Athletics National Madden/Clemmer 3

  • The Aces scored 11 unanswered runs to clinch a spot in the title game to overcome an early deficit with a six-run second inning. UCF commit Maliyah Warren had a double and a home run to drive in four runs. Oklahoma commit Allyssa Parker, Missouri commit Sidney Forrester and Abreya Perry also homered.

OC Batbusters Stith 20, Aces Fastpitch 3

  • Minor’s huge day continued with a first-inning three-run homer and it was cruise control from there. They scored 10 runs in the third and seven in the fourth. Seven different players had two or more RBIs including Oklahoma signee Corri Hicks.
