Mike White didn’t have to search for much talent to add to his 2025 roster, returning nearly all of its core from a national runner-up finish. Texas did graduate Bella Dayton, Joley Mitchell, Alyssa Washington and Estelle Czech. However, the Longhorns appear to have a succession plan for each one.

Mitchell’s at-bats seemingly should go to the powerful Victoria Hunter, who can be the designated player or play at the corners. Washington truly took over the second base spot after a strong start while Leighann Goode recovered from off-season surgery. Czech’s innings very well could be going to highly-touted incoming freshman Cambria Salmon.

But what about Dayton’s speed and spot in the outfield? Goode and Mia Scott have shown infield-outfield versatility during their time in Austin. That’s exactly what Abeiline Christian transfer Kaydee Bennett brings to the Forty Acres.

Bennett, who spent her freshman season at Texas A&M Commerce before ACU, has primarily played shortstop and second base in college. However, she was originally recruited as a middle infielder/outfielder. There’s a decent chance that Texas could use all three of Bennett, Scott and Goode in different positions throughout the season.

The Caddo Mills, Texas native brings over a ton of offensive production. Bennett batted .320 with four doubles in 2023 before taking it up a step in 2024. In her lone season at ACU, Bennett finished with a .425 average and 18 extra-base hits. She has stolen 33 bases in the past two seasons as well.

Bennett hit nine doubles, five triples and four home runs last season. She showcased her speed and power throughout the season as seen in the clip below from Synergy Sports.

According to Synergy Sports, Bennett batted .478 with runners in scoring position with two doubles and three triples. She delivered in big moments while providing a speed element.

The biggest concern for Bennett is how she’ll handle the jump in competition as Texas moves over to the SEC next season. Only time will tell. However, Bennett has always been seen as a top-tier player, committing to Oklahoma State originally out of high school before changing course to stay closer to home due to family reasons. Coaches around the country have always believed she can handle herself with the best in the country.

Regardless, the Longhorns did well adding a solid piece to an already terrific roster for the 2025 season.
