Ducks' Bats Ignite, No. 21 Oregon Defeats No. 18 San Diego State

No. 21 Oregon earned its second Top-25 win of the weekend, knocking off No. 18 San Diego State 7-2.
San Diego State’s Cece Cellura, coming off a stellar weekend in Clearwater, retired the side to start the game. However, the reigning Mountain West Pitcher of the Week ran into trouble in the second inning and was unable to make it past the third. Elise Sokolsky got the nod for Oregon, following Lyndsey Grein’s five-inning relief win over Utah earlier in the day.
In the second inning, a pair of freshmen got things going for the Ducks. Rylee McCoy doubled to center field and Stefini Ma’ake singled through the right side to put runners on the corners with nobody out. With one out, senior Kedre Luschar opened the scoring with an RBI squeeze bunt single to plate McCoy from third. Another veteran, Paige Sinicki, knocked an RBI single back up the middle. Luschar came around to score on an errant throw from center field, making it 3-0 Oregon.
An RBI groundout from Kaylynn Jones scored another run for the Ducks. Then, a two-out double by Kai Luschar and a bunt single from Dezianna Patmon put runners at the corners when the Ducks plated their fifth run on a double steal attempt that ended the inning.
