New faces and historic feats defined an enormous week for these mid-major standouts. Additionally, some clutch performances both in the circle and at the plate helped cement wins for their team. From perfect games to NCAA records, these players turned heads this past weekend.

Kaitlyn Breslin, OF, UConn

It was an unprecedented weekend for Breslin. The sophomore outfielder tied an NCAA single-game record with four home runs in one game. In UConn’s series win over Creighton, Breslin batted 6-for-8, belted five homers, and drove in 11 runs.

Jesiana Mora, 3B, Florida Atlantic

Mora led FAU’s offense in its series sweep of UTSA. The junior collected five hits in 10 at-bats, drove in 10 runs, and hit three home runs over the weekend. She either drove in a run or scored a run in each of the Owls’ wins over the Roadrunners.

Maddia Groff, LHP, Omaha

Groff was untouchable this weekend. In 10 innings, she retired all 30 batters faced, struck out 20, and earned two wins in the Mavericks’ series win over North Dakota. Groff’s Sunday win featured a perfect game, striking out 13 of the 21 batters she faced.

Hailey McLean, RHP, Nevada

McLean was a crucial part of the Wolfpack’s series win over San Diego State. With her help, Nevada has proven it is one of the frontrunners for the Mountain West crown this year. She contributed to the series win with a complete-game victory in the opener, allowing just two hits and striking out five.

Faith Aragon, LHP, New Mexico State

It was a career weekend for Aragon. The Aggies swept Sam Houston State, with two of those wins credited to Aragon. The sophomore tossed a pair of complete games, scattering six hits across 13 scoreless innings. She struck out 15 Bearkats, including a career-high nine strikeouts in Saturday’s win.

Alyssa Vasquez, C, Howard

Vasquez was instrumental in the Bison’s sweep of UMES. The senior catcher reached base safely at least twice in every game. On Saturday, she was unstoppable, going 6-for-6 with three extra-base hits and two walks in Howard’s doubleheader sweep. She added two more hits in Sunday’s finale, reaching base 10 times in 12 plate appearances.

Ella Nelson, INF, Samford

Nelson didn’t quite have the game Breslin did but she was close. The freshman infielder hit three home runs and drove in eight runs in a win over Western Carolina.
