Mid Major Marvels: Week Three

Who are the stars at the Mid-Major level that shined over the weekend? There are familiar faces and new ones that stood out during the third week of the 2025 college softball season.
Allison Benning, RHP, North Florida
Benning’s performance this weekend was exceptional. She pitched 12 innings, including a perfect game victory over Siena and a 10-strikeout shutout win over Cornell. Benning also contributed offensively, reaching base safely in every game, batting .700 with eight RBI and three home runs.
Allie Floyd, RHP, Louisiana Tech
Two weeks after throwing a complete-game win over Oklahoma State, Floyd delivered another gem against No. 19 Auburn. The junior struck out a career-high nine batters in Louisiana Tech’s upset victory, limiting the Tigers to just one hit.
Kat Carter, RHP, Jacksonville State
The Rocket City Showcase in Madison, Alabama, featured another standout pitcher. The senior right-hander tossed a complete-game shutout against No. 20 Mississippi State, striking out seven Bulldogs in the stunning win.

Delaney Keith, INF, Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina made a name for itself this week. The Chanticleers won all five games this weekend, with Keith homering in four of them. The junior collected a hit in each game, belting four home runs and driving in eight runs.
Claudia Medina, INF, Utah State and Giselle Gonzalez, INF, Utah State
Utah State totaled 62 runs over the weekend. Claudia Medina and Giselle Gonzalez played a major role in the Aggies’ offensive production. Medina went 11-for-15 at the plate with 11 RBIs. Gonzalez recorded a .500 batting average, homered five times and drove in 13 runs.
Hannah Blincoe, RHP, Tarleton State
Blincoe tossed Tarleton State’s 12th no-hitter in program history. In a complete-game shutout over New Mexico, Blincoe’s nine-strikeout effort marked a career-high for the senior pitcher.
