It was a game that South Carolina was desperately in need of. After losing five straight games and starting 0-4 in conference play, the Gamecocks got a much-needed win in walk-off fashion. A day after getting knocked out of the game with an injury, Arianna Rodi scored the game-winning run in walk-off fashion for the 4-3 triumph.

South Carolina started strong, scoring a pair in the first inning. Quincee Lillio started things off with a single and advanced to second on a walk by Karley Shleton. A pair of outs threatened to have the threat thwarted. But Lexi Winters and Abigail Knight hit a pair of singles to the right side to score two runs to give the Gamecocks a quick 2-0 lead.

With the pitchers settling into the game, Sam Gress and Lilli Backes did not allow a run until the 5th inning. But, this inning started very similar to how the opening frame started for the Gamecocks. This time, Shelton singled, and Rodi walked to give South Carolina a couple of runners on with nobody out. Then, with one out, Winters hit a sacrifice fly to give South Carolina a 3-0 lead.

Georgia finally was able to get their offense going in the 6th inning. With one out, Jaydyn Goodwin hit a home run to right center field to cut the South Carolina lead to 3-1. Then, with two outs, Gress walked a batter and had to exit the game with an apparent injury. However, she would enter one batter later after a two-out walk by Nealy Lamb. However, the next batter up greeted Gress rudely. Marisa Miller laced a two-out double to the gap that scored two and tied the game at three.

The Gamecocks retired Georgia in order in the 7th inning. This allowed South Carolina an opportunity to win the game in walk-off fashion. After a lead-off out, the Gamecocks loaded the bases. Rodi walked for the third time in the game. That was followed up by back-to-back base hits by Ella Chancey and Winters. With the bases loaded, AKnight hit a ground ball to shortstop, and Rodi was able to beat the throw at the plate for the win.

Chancey and Winters both went 2-3 to pace the Gamecocks. Gress won her fourth game of the year with the complete game. The rubber game of the series is set for 1:00 PM local time where each team will be looking for their first conference series win of the season.
