No. 3 Florida run rules No. 5 Texas A&M, evens series
The Florida offense reminded us how dangerous they are on Saturday. The third-ranked Gators came out firing and never looked back in their 12-4 run-rule win against No. 5 Texas A&M, setting up the rubber match on Sunday.
The Gators led by four runs before Texas A&M starter Grace Sparks recorded an out. Jocelyn Erickson blasted a line drive three-run home run through the wind in College Station. The Gators also scored a run on a fielder’s choice as the Aggies tried to cut the run at home but Gracyn Coleman couldn’t handle the throw from Koko Wooley.
Florida’s power had zero resistance against the wind or Texas A&M’s pitching. Mia Williams hit her eighth home run of the season, sneaking it inside the left field foul pole. Reagan Walsh hit a pair of home runs, including the blast that put Florida up eight.
Kendra Falby did her damage on offense in Florida’s win. She hit a RBI triple that Texas A&M left fielder Kramer Eschete misplayed. She later scored on a Taylor Shumaker single. Korbe Otis also picked up a two-run single in the sixth.

Ava Brown pitched decently well as Keagan Rothrock remains absent for Florida. Brown threw six innings for the Gators, allowing four runs on five hits. Her biggest mistake was quite possibly her error throwing home that eventually led to two first-inning runs. The Aggies also scored two in the fifth inning but Brown limited the damage there as well.
The two teams will square off in Sunday’s rubber match at 1 p.m. ET time at Davis Diamond. We can expect to see the same starters in the circle as Friday with All-American Emiley Kennedy for the Aggies and freshman Katelynn Oxley going for the Gators. Texas A&M could very well go back to Sparks or either of the freshmen Sydney Lessentine or Kate Munnerlyn, who both threw Saturday. Florida could also use Kara Hammock
