Re-ranking all 16 Super Regional teams

The Super Regional field is set. After watching regionals, what teams look better than their seeds given by the committee and what teams do we think still have more left in the tank?
16 Super Regional teams ranked
1. Oklahoma
It wasn’t the most dominant showing for the Sooners in a regional. Sam Landry didn’t have her cleanest outings and the secondary pitching aspects are still a question mark, but nearly every other team left can say that. The offense simply might not make it matter. Ella Parker and Kasidi Pickering are the last two hitters most teams want to face right now.
2. Arkansas
Arkansas needed quite a rally to beat Oklahoma State in the 1-0 game of the Fayetteville Regional. However, there were a few fluky things in that game and the Hogs blew the doors off the Cowgirls on Sunday. Bri Ellis still shifts teams’ pitching plans plus other players like Atalyia Rijo are swinging a good stick right now. Payton Burnham is also pitching as one of the best Robins to their Batman, who is Robyn Herron in this case.
3. UCLA
The Bruins breezed through the Los Angeles Regional. They have the deepest staff of the 16 teams with Taylor Tinsley, Kaitlyn Terry and Addisen Fisher. The explosive duo of Jordan Woolery and Megan Grant has the stats to go up against anybody else’s best two hitters. However, the Bruins will need they to show up in Columbia.
4. Tennessee
The Tennessee bats weren’t incredible by any means in the Knoxville Regional, but they found the clutch homers and hits when they needed to. Karlyn Pickens was great against the good offenses of Ohio State and Miami. Although it was Sage Mardjetko’s outing that really showed she could help the Lady Vols possible run to and through Oklahoma City.
5. Texas
The Longhorns had a great weekend. The lineup did serious damage to both the UCF and Michigan pitching staffs. Reese Atwood and Katie Stewart drew the eyes, but the production from Leighann Goode and Kaydee Bennett was a good sign. Teagan Kavan also didn’t have to pitch much, meaning they should be rested for Super Regionals.
6. Florida State
Florida State handled its regional pretty easily aside from the loss to Auburn. However, the pitching dominated in the last game to advance the Seminoles. Florida State’s pitching staff is very good, but the lack of a true ‘ace’ might pop up. The offense was reliable as always, but facing NiJaree Canady will be a different beast than what they saw in regionals.
7. Florida
The Gators’ offense crushed the pitching they saw in the Gainesville Regional. Taylor Shumaker is swinging the bat at a high level again, making the Florida lineup seemingly impossible to deal with. My cause for concern is still the pitching and, more importantly, Keagan Rothrock. She has to be better for Florida to be a true national champion contender.
8. Texas Tech
The Texas Tech offense has been really good lately. Mihyia Davis, Alana Johnson and Hailey Toney have all been swinging a hot stick lately. Then you have NiJaree Canady, who has proven to be a generational talent in the circle and hit a team-high 10 home runs this season. They’d be higher if Canady looked like herself in the last Mississippi State win.
9. Nebraska
Is Jordy Bahl good enough to carry Nebraska to the Women’s College World Series? Yes, the player that reached base in every plate appearance of the Baton Rouge Regional can do that. She’s a great talent on both sides. Nebraska has similar defensive issues as Texas Tech and the rest of the lineup as struggled against high-end pitching or else they’d be higher.
10. South Carolina
South Carolina swept the Columbia Regional but the offense sorta slept walked its way through Elon and North Florida. The bats didn’t get going until late in the two games against the Ospreys. The Gamecocks won’t be able to do that facing a much better UCLA offense. Sam Gress and Jori Heard did pitch well.

11. Alabama
The duo of Catelyn Riley and Jocelyn Briski held down the high-powered Virginia Tech offense. The Tide’s pitching has certainly turned the corner and will need a repeat of their outings against Oklahoma. On the flip side, Alabama’s offense hasn’t had a big game against a quality opponent since run-ruling South Carolina on May 1.
12. Oregon
The Ducks offense carried them to this Super Regional. Oregon took advantage of a Stanford pitching staff that has struggled for most of the season. However, freshman superstar Rylee McCoy might not be available, which lowers the ceiling of the lineup. The bigger issue is that Lyndsey Grein isn’t throwing well.
13. Clemson
The Tigers didn’t exactly coast by what was a weaker Clemson Regional. The top of Clemson’s order wasn’t uber productive until later in the Kentucky win. Veterans Maddie Moore and Aby Vieira, who have Super Regional experience, will need to be the leaders for a young squad walking into Austin next week.
14. Liberty
Liberty had a great plan for Texas A&M ace Emiley Kennedy, but outside of Rachel Roupe, the Flames didn’t have the best at-bats against the rest of the Aggies’ pitching staff. Elena Escobar was a warrior and has the stuff to face Oregon’s lineup, however, the Flames’ defense can’t commit eight errors in three games like they did against Texas A&M.
15. Ole Miss
The Rebels brought their power stroke to Tucson. Ole Miss hit 11 home runs during the regional, which isn’t their normal offense. The pitching will need to be better in Bogle Park during the Super Regional. The chances that Ole Miss wins another series of slugfest with the quality of the Razorbacks’ pitching.
16. Georgia
The Bulldogs beat Duke twice to earn another Super Regional appearance. Georgia found enough offense against a Blue Devil staff that has not performed that well down the stretch. Can they do it again against a group of Florida arms that isn’t exactly thriving either? Randi Roelling and Lilli Backes will need to give the offense a chance to compete again.
