Rosa delivers again, No. 11 Oregon shuts out No. 8 Florida State

Sunday’s game between No. 11 Oregon and No. 8 Florida State. It was another down-to-the-wire affair that seemed like Deja Vu from Friday night’s matchup. An Oregon pitcher threw a complete game shutout, low scoring action on both sides and it came down to the same distinguishing factor: Braiesey Rosa.
On the third day of the Jane Sanders Classic, the Ducks once again came out victorious over the Seminoles. The lone run in the 1-0 win came off of an RBI single from Braiesey Rosa. The same hero in Oregon’s 2-0 Friday win against Florida State.
It all came down to the fifth inning. Oregon’s Kedre Luschar used her speed to bunt her way to first to start off the inning. Luschar then advanced to third after a single up the middle from Dezianna Patmon. With Luschar on third in scoring position, Rosa stepped into the batter’s box.
The sophomore, who has been filling in at catcher for Emma Cox, delivered the game-winning RBI on a single to left field. This was only Rosa’s fourth RBI of the season. Although the backup catcher has come up clutch in adverse situations for the Ducks.

Outside of the fifth inning, it was a game of small ball. The Seminoles only tallied two hits. While the Ducks were over aggressive on the basepaths, causing them to come up scoreless.
Oregon redshirt junior right hander Eliise Sokolsky pitched her second complete game of the season, holding Florida State to only two hits. Sokolsky pitched effectively in the circle and ended the game with five strikeouts and no walks.
Florida State’s defense also performed well up to standards, but it all came down to one decisive inning. It was a very close game between two ranked opponents who could potentially see each other later on in the season.
The Jane Sanders Classic concludes Monday with Oregon taking on Abilene Christian at 10:30 a.m.
