Softball America Composite Rankings: Championship Week

The rankings below are not indicative of the Softball America Top 25. The Softball America composite rankings average all major College Softball polls and the RPI and KPI rankings. All stats include games played from Monday to Monday each week and do not include Tuesday’s games.
Final Composite Rankings Update
Below you will see our final composite rankings update of the season. The conference tournament is always one of the most exciting parts of the season. We have teams fighting for their season to continue. Comparatively, we have teams that are jockeying for position to be a national top-eight seed as well as a top 16 seed to host Regional play.

Conference Tournament Championship Week
The West Coast Conference is the only major conference not to hold a postseason tournament. Santa Clara and Saint Mary’s are currently tied at the top of the standings at 9-3. Santa Clara travels to Corvallis for a three-game set with Oregon State. Comparatively, Saint Mary’s will face Loyola Marymount, with each game critically important for all four teams that are still mathematically alive.
The Southland tournament began last week in a Women’s College World Series format. The top two seeds have advanced to the Championship series, as McNeese will face off against Southeast Louisiana with game one beginning on Thursday evening. The remaining 29 conference series breakdowns, key players, and predictions can be found below.

Atlantic 10 Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Anna Reed, George Washington. The senior leads the Atlantic 10 conference in wins and ERA on the season. She’s part of a two-headed monster in the circle that swept regular-season champion Dayton in late March.
Hitter to Watch
Abby Mallo, Saint Louis. Mallo’s 18 home runs and 73 RBIs paced the Billikens this year. She had over half of the team’s home runs this year. If Saint Louis can grab the automatic bid, Mallo will have much to say about it.
Prediction
Dayton. The Flyers come in as the hottest team in the conference, winners of seven straight. The consistency in the lineup led by Emma Schutter, with a .392 batting average and 29 stolen bases, will be the difference.
Atlantic Sun Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Allison Benning, North Florida. Benning might be the best two-way player in the country who doesn’t get enough recognition. In the circle, she is 21-5 with a 1.45 ERA and 157 strikeouts. If that’s not enough, she also has another 19 home runs at the plate while hitting over .400.
Hitter to Watch
Maddi Rutan, Eastern Kentucky. Rutan leads the conference in hitting at .421. Additionally, she has provided the power as well with 13 home runs and a league-leading 59 RBIs.
Prediction
North Florida. For a team that’s only lost twice in 24 games in conference play, it’s hard to imagine that happening twice in a weekend. The depth in the circle and too much Allison Benning will be the difference.
Atlantic Coast Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Eden Bigham, Virginia. If the Cavaliers can win this tournament, it will likely be in large part due to the arm of Bigham. She’s tied for the league lead in wins with 16 and has a 2.08 ERA to her credit.
Hitter to Watch
Cori McMillan, Virginia Tech. It’s hard to imagine a hotter bat in the country right now than McMillan. She leads the league in home runs with 29 and also paces the ACC in slugging percentage at 1.092.
Prediction
Clemson. After a 3-6 start to the season, the Tigers have quietly, but impressively, went 39-6 the rest of the way. The overall balance in the circle and up and down the lineup scores the minor upset in this tournament.
America East Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Brianna Roberts, Binghamton. Roberts leads the America East in most statistical categories for pitchers. She has an 18-2 record with a 2.12 ERA and 136 strikeouts on the season.
Hitter to Watch
Elisa Allen, Binghamton. Her batting average is a little down the list at .304. However, the power numbers are not. She leads the league with 22 home runs. She has doubled the home run output of the closest competitor.
Prediction
Binghamton. It would be a shocker if any other team won this tournament. The Bearcats dominated league play and led the conference in every statistical category. With the added benefit that Binghamton will host the tournament, it will be theirs to lose.
American Athletic Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Autumn Courtney, Florida Atlantic. Courtney has been a catalyst behind the success of the Owls this season. She leads the league with 24 victories on the season. Additionally, she’s third in ERA with a 1.96.
Hitter to Watch
Jenna Lord, Charlotte. Lord is very close to being the triple crown winner in the AAC this season. Her 21 home runs and 62 RBIs lead the league, and she is second in hitting with a .408 average.
Prediction
South Florida. Florida Atlantic comes into the tournament winners of 10 straight, but it will be the host Bulls who are the story. South Florida will get enough pitching from Belle Sardja and Payton Dixon to take the crown.
Big Ten Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Jordy Bahl, Nebraska. Bahl leads the league in most measurable statistics, including ERA, at 1.46, and strikeouts with 234. She has the unique ability to carry the Cornhuskers to a title.
Hitter to Watch
Jasmyn Burns, Ohio State. The Buckeyes lead the country in home runs, and Burns is a big reason why. Burns is second only to Megan Grant with 22 home runs. However, she also hits for an average and not just power with her .473 batting average.
Prediction
UCLA. The Bruins come into the Big 10 tournament fresh off their worst series of the season in losing to Northwestern at home. They’ll bring that chip with them to Indiana and take the conference championship.
Big 12 Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Kenzie Brown, Arizona State. I know everyone just expects NiJaree Canady here. However, perhaps no player means more to her team than Brown does to Arizona State. She’s third in the league in ERA with a 1.30, but to lead a league in strikeouts that also has Canady is very impressive.
Hitter to Watch
Devyn Netz, Arizona. Another two-way star will have her say in this tournament in the circle and at the plate. Netz has 17 home runs and 58 RBIs for the Wildcats while hitting .347.
Prediction
Arizona. The Wildcats did lose two of three to Texas Tech late in the season. However, their lineup that is strong up and down will give teams enough fits for Arizona to win their first Big 12 Conference Championship.
Big East Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Loreley Francia, St. John’s. Francia led the Big East regular season with a 1.81 ERA. She’s part of a two-pitcher rotation with Ana Serafinko, who each have 19 victories on the season.
Hitter to Watch
Grace Jenkins, UConn. Jenkins is part of a powerful Huskies lineup that belted 70 home runs this season. But, individually, Jenkins smashed 19 of her own while driving in 64.
Prediction
UConn. The Huskies lost two of three to St. John’s to end the season. But both losses were of the single-run variety. The power at the plate and behind the pitching of Payton Kinney gives the Huskies the bid.
Big Sky Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Caroline Evans, Sacramento State. If the Hornets have any chance to spring the upset, they will need several solid outings from Evans. The senior has seven wins on the season and is up near the top of the Big Sky with a 3.32 ERA.
Hitter to Watch
Ava Brown, Idaho State. No, not that Ava Brown, but this one is equally powerful. She leads the Big Sky in power numbers with 24 home runs and 62 RBIs. She is just a couple of percentage points behind her teammate, Gracie Smith, in the league for the highest batting average at .388.
Prediction
Idaho State. The Bengals are the cream of the crop in the Big Sky this season. Even though Sacramento State could challenge them, we’re going with the chalk here.
Big South Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Dakota Redmon, Radford. If Radford is able to secure the Big South Conference Championship, it will rely on its pitching. Redmon is a good one to rely on. She’s third in ERA with a 2.45 and second in wins with 16.
Hitter to Watch
Sophia Kardatzke, USC Upstate. Upstate is the best-hitting team in the conference by a pretty healthy margin, and Kardatzke is the ring leader. She leads the league in hitting with a .394 average and adds 12 home runs and 45 RBIs to that average.
Prediction
USC Upstate. The Spartans were swept by Longwood to finish the season, which dropped them to the three seed. However, with everything on the line it will be Upstate’s offense that steals the show.
Big West Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Malaya Johnson, UC Santa Barbara. Johnson can carry Santa Barbara to a conference title. She is third in the conference in ERA with a 2.70 and leads the conference with 17 victories.
Hitter to Watch
Ava Arce, Cal State Fullerton. Arce was among the league leaders in hitting all season. With her .414 average, 11 round trippers, and 60 runs batted in, she is one of the many reasons that Fullerton is the prohibitive favorite.
Prediction
Cal State Fullerton. Even though this has been a very balanced conference with four teams having the same record in conference play, the Titans will sit alone at the top of the mountain.
Conference USA

Pitcher to Watch
Elena Escobar, Liberty. The Flames have the best pitching staff in the conference and are paced by Escobar. She’s second in the conference with 19 victories and holds down the number two ERA in the conference at 2.08.
Hitter to Watch
Desirae Spearman, New Mexico State. The Aggies are one of the best hitting teams in the league, and Spearman is one of the reasons why. She is second in batting average at .434 and has 19 home runs and 44 RBIs.
Prediction
Liberty. The Flames have dominated the conference this year in losing seven fewer games than anyone else in Conference USA. Look for that trend to continue in the tournament.
Colonial Athletic Association

Pitcher to Watch
Billie Kerwood, Delaware. Kerwood leads the Blue Hens in pitching with a 1.58 ERA and has 23 wins on the year. Also, her 238 strikeouts lead the CAA by a considerable margin.
Hitter to Watch
Kyra McFarland, Stony Brook. McFarland doesn’t have some of the biggest power numbers, with only two home runs and 23 RBIs. However, her .444 batting average and 75 hits led the league.
Prediction
Delaware. This league has been pretty balanced, but the Blue Hens are the favorites and our pick to take the CAA Championship.
Horizon League Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Melissa Holzopfel, Cleveland State. Holzopfel has led Cleveland State in the circle for the best ERA in the conference. Individually, she is second in the league with a 3.15 ERA and leads the conference with 16 wins.
Hitter to Watch
Molly Kable, IU Indy. The Jaguars are second in the league in hitting, and Kable is a big part of that. She leads the league with a .427 batting average and is among the league leaders with 9 home runs and 46 RBIs.
Prediction
Robert Morris. As a team, Robert Morris is the best offensive team in the conference. The lineup will be enough to hold off the number one seed and host of the tournament.
Ivy League

Pitcher to Watch
Alexis Guevara, Brown. Guevara has been the workhorse in the circle for the Bears. She leads the IVY League in ERA at 1.89 and wins with 17 and strikeouts with 149.
Hitter to Watch
Laurel Moody, Brown. Much like Guevara, Moody leads the league in most measurable statistics at the plate. Her .443 average, 15 home runs, and 41 RBIs are all tops in the league.
Prediction
Princeton. Even though Brown may have the better individual leaders, we’re going with the Tigers to have enough to hold off the competition and win this tournament.
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Kiley Myers, Marist. Myers has run roughshod over the MAAC this season with a 20-1 record. Additionally, she has recorded a 1.53 ERA and has held the opponent to a .211 batting average.
Hitter to Watch
Miah McDonald, Marist. The Red Foxes have the best offense in the conference and one of the best in the mid-major category. McDonald’s 24 home runs and 62 RBIs are a big reason why.
Prediction
Marist. The Red Wolves have been dominant in MAAC play, and we expect that trend to continue.
Mid-American Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Skipp Miller, Ohio. The Bobcats have the best pitching in the MAC in large part to Miller and her partner in crime, Anna Wise. Miller is third in the league with a 2.79 ERA and has 17 wins on the season.
Hitter to Watch
McKayla Timmons, Ball State. The Cardinals lead the league in hitting, and Timmons has played a pivotal role. Her .430 batting average is a league leader and has chipped in with 15 long balls and 53 runs driven in.
Prediction
Ohio. Miami is the perennial power, but Ohio is the stronger team. Despite playing well late, Ohio gets the minor upset here to take the bid.

Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Jaden Davis, North Carolina Central. Even though Davis is down the list a little bit with a 3.64, she has carried NC Central this year in the circle with 12 wins.
Hitter to Watch
Kenna Higa, Howard. Higa comes in second in the MEAC in hitting with a .386 batting average. She has also added three home runs and 16 RBIs for the best offensive team in the league.
Prediction
Howard. The Bison have had an excellent regular season with only one blemish in the conference. While Norfolk State has the pitching to make things interesting, Howard gets the nod.
Missouri Valley Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Maya Johnson, Belmont. Johnson might be the best pitcher that you don’t know about. However, she has had an incredibly impressive season. She leads the league with a 1.09 ERA and 22 victories. She also has 320 strikeouts in only 179 innings pitched.
Hitter to Watch
Kate Lappe, Northern Iowa. Lappe leads the league in every offensive category, and the potential of her matching up against Maya Johnson will be a must-watch. Her .438 average, coupled with 18 home runs and 45 RBIs, gives Northern Iowa a chance to win this tournament.
Prediction
Belmont. The Bruins are not the best offensive team in the league. But, they will get just enough run support for Maya Johnson to lead them to the postseason.
Mountain West Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Cece Cellura, San Diego State. Cellura has led the typically strong Aztec pitching staff this year. She has 15 wins on the season with a 2.32 ERA in 14 starts in the circle.
Hitter to Watch
Aailyah Jenkins, Nevada. Jenkins has been part of the high-level Wolfpack offensive attack. She leads the league with a .455 and has added 16 home runs and 57 RBI while boasting a .929 slugging percentage.
Prediction
Nevada. The Wolfpack is something of a feel-good story in 2025, and they take that momentum for their first Mountain West Championship.
Northeast Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Brooklyn Shroyer, Fairleigh Dickinson. Shroyer has powered FDU into the best pitching staff in the conference. Individually, she leads the league with a 2.34 ERA and has 11 wins and 11 complete games in 19 starts.
Hitter to Watch
Savannah Nash, Saint Francis. Nash leads the league with a .421 batting average. She’s tied for the league lead in home runs with 11 and has also stolen 18 bags as well.
Prediction
Saint Francis. The NEC is one of the few conferences where you could make a case for all teams to win the tournament. We’re going with the traditional power in the conference to come out on top.
Ohio Valley Conference

Pitcher to Watch
McKenzie Oslanzi, Eastern Illinois. Oslanzi helped to lead Eastern Illinois to the best staff ERA in the conference. She was number three with a 2.43 ERA and led the league with wins at 19.
Hitter to Watch
Kendall Grover, Eastern Illinois. Grover was the top hitter in the league at .418. Although not at the top, but among the leaders in power numbers, Grover had 10 home runs and 33 runs driven in.
Prediction
Eastern Illinois. The Panthers will be looking for some revenge after getting beat by Southeast Missouri in last years championship. They do just that and get the automatic bid from the OVC.
Patriot League Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Kasey Ricard, Boston. The success in the circle has and will continue to fall on the shoulders of Ricard. Her 1.99 ERA and 24 wins lead the league. But, her utilization has been quite high as she has thrown over 224 innings this season.
Hitter to Watch
Kylie Doherty, Boston. Doherty has provided the power for the Terriers this year with a .365 batting average as well as 13 homers and 45 RBIs.
Prediction
Army. The Black Knights have been the surprise of the league with winning the regular season title. They continue that trend and win the tournament championship on their home field.
Southeastern Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Karlyn Pickens, Tennessee. It’s no secret that to get where they want to go, Pickens will likely shoulder the load. She’s been the most dominant pitcher in this league with a 0.96 ERA and 20 wins while striking out 221 batters in 167.1 innings.
Hitter to Watch
Taylor Shumaker, Florida. The rookie has been anything but in her first season in Gainesville. She has been instrumental in the teams success at the plate with her .374 batting average along with 17 home runs and 75 RBIs.
Prediction
Texas A&M. It’s about as easy to predict a winner of this tournament as it is to pick the Freshman of the Year in this league. The Aggies solidify the number one overall seed with the tournament win.
Southwestern Athletic Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Zoryana Hughes, Florida A&M. Hughes is third in the league in ERA at 2.61. She has contributed nine wins for the number two staff ERA in the SWAC this season.
Hitter to Watch
Janaiya Thomas, Prairie View A&M. Thomas contributed only two home runs, but she drove in 40 on the year. Her .368 batting average is also top 10 in the SWAC this season.
Prediction
Prairie View A&M. The Panthers were the most complete team in the SWAC this season, with only three losses. We see this one going the if-necessary game, but Prairie View A&M comes out on top.
Southern Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Peja Goold, Chattanooga. Goold is the team and league leader in pitching for the Mocs. She leads the conference with a 1.50 ERA and has won 23 games this season, and has helped Chattanooga to the number two ERA in the Southern Conference.
Hitter to Watch
Tori Hedgecock, Mercer. Hedgecock is tied for the league lead in home runs with 13 and leads the SoCon with 55 RBIs. Additionally, she leads the league in individual OPS with a 1.207 overall.
Prediction
Chattanooga. The Mocs narrowly outlasted UNC Greensboro for the regular season title, and they do that again here in the tournament.
Summit League Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Maddia Groff, Omaha. As expected, Groff had an outstanding season or Omaha. Groff led the league with a 1.32 ERA and won 23 games while striking out 225 batters in just over 164 innings this year.
Hitter to Watch
Abby Gentry, South Dakota State. Gentry led the charge for the best power-hitting team in the league. She had the best average by more than 40 points at .439 and delivered 9 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Prediction
South Dakota State. In front of their home fans at Jackrabbit Stadium, South Dakota State will take home the Summit League tournament championship.
Sun Belt Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Nicolette Picone, Coastal Carolina. Picone has been critical to the improvement of the Chanticleers in the circle. She has a 2.42 ERA which ranks third in the Sun Belt and has 24 wins which leads the league.
Hitter to Watch
Aiyana Coleman, Texas State. In a league that has seen quite a few power hitters, Coleman has been a mainstay. She ranks third in hitting with a .429 average and is among the league leaders with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Prediction
Texas State. This tournament is wide open, as only five games separate the number one seed from the number 10 seed. However, Texas State will ride its pitching staff to a win.
Western Athletic Conference

Pitcher to Watch
Meghan Golden/Taryn Batterton, Grand Canyon: It’s co-pitchers for the best staff, statistically speaking, in the nation. Golden has a 0.97 ERA while Batterton has a 1.70 ERA. Collectively, the two have a 30-1 record on the year.
Hitter to Watch
Jada Cooper, Grand Canyon. Cooper has led the Lopes at the plate this year with a .393 average. She has also hit double-digit home runs with 12 and has driven in 47 on the year.
Prediction
Grand Canyon. The Lopes may be the best mid-major in the country, and few conferences have a bigger favorite than them. They have won 20 straight and should continue that streak to a title.
