The rankings below are not indicative of the Softball America Top 25. The Softball America composite rankings average all major College Softball polls and the RPI and KPI rankings. All stats include games played from Monday to Monday each week and do not include Tuesday’s games.

Movers and Shakers of the Week

The Tennessee Lady Vols have two of the biggest series wins this season over Oklahoma, and now Texas. With the pair of wins, Tennessee jumps from No. 10 to No. 5. UCLA took care of business in a series sweep of Washington and jumped three spots to No. 6. Finally, by way of their series win over Oklahoma, Alabama took a few steps forward to No. 19 and seems to be firmly inside of the hosting bubble.

Conversely, LSU took the biggest tumble, dropping five spots to No. 9 after getting swept by Texas A&M. The schedule gets no easier as LSU must travel to Austin this weekend. After a 1-3 week, Oklahoma State dropped from No. 18 to No. 22. Lastly, South Carolina dropped from No. 7 to No. 10 after losing a very close series to Arkansas over the final two games of the series.

The ACC is Becoming So Offensive

What once was considered a down season for the ACC has turned into quite the opposite. Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Clemson are firmly in the top 16 to be a host in the postseason. The Seminoles appear to be primed for a return back to a national seed. The offensive numbers are key contributors to why they have been so successful this year.

Isa Torres, Kennedy Harp, and Jahni Kerr are all hitting over .400 on the year. Meanwhile, Jaysoni Beachum and Michaela Edenfield have combined to hit 18 home runs and 82 RBIs. For Virginia Tech, Cori McMillan, Michelle Chatfield, and Bre Peck are providing the power you expect from the Hokies. The trio has combined to hit 41 of the team’s 77 home runs on the season. Lastly, for Clemson, Maddie Moore has had an outstanding season, hitting .447 and hitting 12 home runs, and knocking in 52 runs. Julia Knowler has been impressive as well, with 13 home runs and 51 RBIs.

Can We Get to Oklahoma City, Please?

The level of parity in the game this year is unlike anything we have seen in quite some time. Without a clear-cut favorite, could this be the year that an unseeded team makes it to the Women’s College World Series? Although things could change over the next few weeks, Oregon, Texas Tech, and Nebraska could ride huge arms for a deep postseason run.

Lyndsey Grein has a 1.27 ERA and holds a 22-1 record on the season. Her partner in crime in the circle, Elise Sokolsky, also has a sub-2.00 ERA sitting at 1.92 ERA on the year. For Texas Tech and Nebraska, their reliance could be more on a single arm rolling into the postseason. NiJaree Canady and Jordy Bahl are two of the biggest two-way threats in the country. Canady is 17-4 with a 0.72 ERA and has 6 home runs and 23 RBIs. Likewise, Bahl has 14 home runs and 47 RBIs while hitting .457. Additionally, in the circle, she is 18-4 with a 1.26 ERA.
