Softball America Stars of the Week: Agbayani, Bahl, Cintron, Foreman

The Softball America staff will pick four student-athletes as our college softball players of the week following the latest slate of games. Our award system isn’t necessarily stat-based but rather players who left a lasting impact as we watched games from the previous week. Who changed the tune of their teams? Who made the headlines? Who might be the breakout star during the season?
Ailana Agbayani, INF, Oklahoma
It was hard to pick one player from Oklahoma’s sweep of Texas. Agbayani stood out as a headache for the Longhorns’ pitching staff. She went 6-for-8 with two doubles, a grand slam and two walks. Agbayani had a hit in all three games with an on-base percentage over .800 and a slugging percentage near 1.400.
Jordy Bahl, P/UTL, Nebraska
Bahl was incredible this weekend as Nebraska captured the series at Washington. She nearly single-handedly beat the Huskies in the rubber match on Sunday, hitting two home runs and throwing a complete game one-hit shutout. Bahl finished the weekend going 5-for-8 with three home runs and eight RBIs and struck out 23 batters in two wins.

Macey Cintron, P/UTL, Clemson
Cintron had a big piece of Clemson’s 4-0 week against Tennessee and Georgia Tech. She batted .500 with a double and three home runs while driving in seven runs. Cintron reached 48 RBIs this season, breaking Valerie Cagle’s freshman RBI record. Good company to be in for Cintron.
Josie Foreman, UTL, USF
Foreman batted .455 this week, helping USF to a series win over UNT to improve their NCAA Tournament chances. The graduate student hit two home runs and drove in four runs, including the go-ahead single in the extra-inning rubber match on Sunday.
