The Softball America staff will pick four student-athletes as our college softball players of the week following the latest slate of games. Our award system isn’t necessarily stat-based but rather players who left a lasting impact as we watched games from the previous week. Who changed the tune of their teams? Who made the headlines? Who might be the breakout star during the season?

Katie Dack, UTL, Florida State

It was hard to pick just one Florida State bat from the Noles’ impressive week on the road. Dack had a .455 batting average with two home runs and nine RBIs in the four wins over Alabama and Duke. Dack’s three-run go-ahead blast was the difference in Tuscaloosa. She had two RBI games against the Blue Devils.

Soo-Jin Berry, INF, Iowa

How did the Hawkeyes earn its highest-ranked win in 10 seasons? Soo-Jin Berry had her first multi-homer game as Iowa handed UCLA its first-ever Big Ten loss. Berry gave the Hawkeyes an early lead with a two-run homer in the third. Her second one pushed Iowa’s lead to 7-4 in the sixth before they closed it out in the seventh.

Alex Brown, INF, Clemson

What can Brown do for you? Well, not get out apparently. Brown was a perfect 10-for-10 at the plate this weekend during Clemson’s sweep of Syracuse. She had two doubles and a home run, picking up an RBI in each win over the Orange.

Katie Stewart, UTL, Texas

Stewart played hero, hitting the walk-off three-run home run on Saturday, but she had a great series against Auburn. The preseason All-American collected nine RBIs against the Tigers. She is quickly approaching the program’s career Top 10 all-time list.
