Softball America Top 25 poll: 2025 Preseason
The start to the road to Oklahoma City is on the horizon as we head toward the spring and Softball America is ready to drop its first Top 25 of the 2025 season.
It may surprise some, but the four-time defending national champions Oklahoma Sooners are not the top-ranked team heading into February. There are a lot of new faces in Norman after graduating the most decorated senior class in collegiate softball history. Instead, Florida and Texas top our poll ahead of Oklahoma.
The SEC leads all conferences with 10 teams in the Top 25 and five in the Top 10. The ACC, led by Duke and Florida State, has five representatives. UCLA, one of the new faces of the Big Ten, is ranked fifth and is joined by four other Big Ten schools. Oklahoma State comes in as the fourth-ranked team with Texas Tech, Arizona and Baylor from the Big 12 also being in the Top 25. Liberty of Conference USA is the lone Mid-Major in the Top 25.
1. Florida
The Gators returned most of their roster, which had nearly made it to the Women’s College World Series championship series. Preseason All-Americans Jocelyn Erickson, Korbe Otis and Kendra Falby highlight the offense, while Keagan Rothrock could be even better in year two.
2. Texas
The Longhorns have a roster that is nearly identical to that of the team that earned the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Reese Atwood, Mia Scott and Katie Stewart are the foundation of a powerful lineup and Mike White has another deep pitching staff led Teagan Kavan.
3. Oklahoma
Oklahoma is still in the mix at the top despite the amount of talent the Sooners lost. Patty Gasso brought in a strong transfer group paired with one of the best 2025 recruiting classes. Sophomores Ella Parker and Kasidi Pickering are also First-Team Preseason All-Americans.
4. Oklahoma State
Kenny Gajewski made major improvements to his roster through the transfer portal with RyLee Crandall, Ruby Meylan, Megan Delgadillo, Amanda Hasley and Rachael Hathoot. The Cowgirls also have talented returners Karli Godwin, Tallen Edwards, Claire Timm and many others back.
5. UCLA
The Bruins could arguably have the best pitching staff in the country this season after what we saw from Taylor Tinsley and Kaitlyn Terry and with the addition of Softball America’s No. 1 recruit Addisen Fisher. Megan Grant and Jordan Woolery become the veterans of the lineup.
