Tennessee lands pair of Boise State transfers Sophia Knight and Makenzie Butt

Ahead of Tennessee’s Women’s College World Series matchup, the Lady Vols picked up a pair of commitments from Boise State transfers Sophia Knight and Makenzie Butt on Wednesday.
With the Lady Vols graduating a chunk of their lineup after this season, it makes sense to reload with bats, including two-way Maddi Rutan, who committed earlier in the week.

Knight, an outfielder with two years of eligibility remaining, batted .486 – the third highest average in the nation this season – with eight doubles, five triples and 27 stolen bases. Butt, the 2025 Mountain West Freshman of the Year, had a .363 average, 11 doubles, 22 home runs and 77 RBIs this past season and could fill in at first base for All-American McKenna Gibson following the end of her Tennessee career.
