Texas powers past UCF, into Super Regionals

Texas has secured its sixth straight Super Regional appearance under Mike White. The Longhorns beat UCF 9-0 on Sunday to host the Austin Super Regional next week.
Texas kept the home run barrage going against the Knights’ stout pitching staff. Leighann Goode hit a two-run blast off of UCF starter Isabella Vega. Goode hit homers on back-to-back days after not having one the whole month of April. Meanwhile, Reese Atwood did Reese Atwood things in the fifth. The All-American catcher hit a two-run blast to extend the lead to four. She wasn’t done. Atwood smoked another two-run blast in the seventh for her 20th of the season. Texas added three more insurance runs in the seventh.
A well-rested Teagan Kavan tossed a complete game shutout. She worked around six hits, striking out six batters and allowing one walk. Kavan held the Knights to 2-for-14 with runners on base in the regionally-clinching win.
