As Softball America grows its coverage at all levels, we continue our recruiting spotlight series with Emily King. The right-handed pitcher from Virginia recently committed to Appalachian State University.

What is your favorite travel ball memory? 

I pitched nine innings in a 1-0 win last summer in the Alliance Nationals in California.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned from a coach?

Don’t trade in long term success for instant rewards. Don’t take the easy way out.

How did you get interested in softball? 

I used to play up with my older sister.

What are your strengths as a player? What are you trying to improve on the most? 

I am a consistent competitor. I’m working on being stronger physically.

What player(s) do you look up to the most? 

Montana Fouts.

What are your favorite hobbies outside of softball? 

Basketball and time at the lake.

What excites you the most about playing college softball?

I love to play and compete and I want to do it at the highest level I can.
