Alabama remains on a roll on the recruiting trail. On Monday night, the staff earned a commitment from Edric Hill, marking the four addition to their 2023 class since the start of August.

Hill committed to the Crimson Tide over several other Power 5 options across the country. Alabama beat out LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, and USC to land his pledge moments ago.

The pursuit of Hill for Freddie Roach and Company began all the way back in November 2021 when the program extended him an offer. The staff would go on to get him on campus two more times after that, including his official visit from June 24-26 this summer.

Hill previously told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons that the school he’s committing to feels like home, and that he and his family are comfortable with said program. Alabama ended up being that school as they were able to check off all those key boxes he was looking for during his time on campus.

Adding Hill to the fold gives the Tide their second commitment along the d-line, the other being Hunter Osborne. They will continue to prioritize the position group moving forward, with coveted prospect Jordan Renaud set to commit on Sept. 19.

Per On3’s 2023 rankings, Hill is the No. 103 prospect in this recruiting cycle. He’s also tabbed as the No. 16 defensive lineman and the third-ranked senior in Missouri.

Edric Hill marks yet another key addition for Alabama this summer

Starting with Wilkin Formby‘s commitment on June 20, Alabama has been nearly unstoppable in its recruiting efforts. Over the past 10 weeks, the Crimson Tide have, on average, gained a commitment almost every four days.

Following Formby’s addition, Alabama added Brayson Hubbard, Cole Adams, Justin Jefferson, and Tony Mitchell to finish off June. July, however, was the massive month for Nick Saban’s program this summer.

That month featured the Tide landing the nation’s top junior college prospect in Malik Benson and five-star safety Caleb Downs. It also saw Alabama add two premier 2023 running backs in Justice Haynes and Richard Young, Dylan Lonergan (their second quarterback commit), and addressed their need at kicker with a commitment from Conor Talty.

Looking at the summer as a whole, the Crimson Tide enjoyed major wins along the offensive line. Besides Formby, they added Miles McVay, Olaus Alinen, Raymond Pulido, and Ryqueze McElderry to the fold.

McElderry — a former Georgia commit — marked the first of two flips for Alabama, the other being former Ohio State tight end pledge Ty Lockwood. The previously mentioned Hunter Osborne joined the fold on Aug. 1, a day before Lockwood’s commitment.

Alabama continues to add to its 2023 class, with several key targets — Cormani McClain, Keon Keeley, and others — remaining on their radar.
