2024 EDGE commits to the Alabama Crimson Tide
In the less than two weeks that he has been Alabama’s head football coach, Kalen DeBoer has already earned his second commitment from a high school prospect in the 2024 class.
On Thursday, Peoria (Az.) Centennial EDGE product Noah Carter rewarded the Crimson Tide with his commitment. His announcement came after an official visit to Bama over the weekend, his first-ever trip to Tuscaloosa.
Carter was already familiar with DeBoer and his staff as he signed with the Huskies last month. After DeBoer was named Bama’s head coach, however, Carter decommitted from Washington and was granted a release from his National Letter of Intent. This gave him the option to consider Alabama and others who still wanted him in their class.

Other schools were in consideration for Carter, but a trip to The Capstone this weekend was all he needed in order to make his final decision.
“Coach DeBoer is one of the best coaches in the country, if not the best,” Carter told BamaOnLine’s Andrew Bone earlier this week. “Everyone is going to kinda figure it out, but he’s just a down-to-earth guy. He knows and loves football just like the staff he has.”
The four-star also had the following to say about Alabama ahead of his official visit.
“You know it’s a program that develops some of the NFL greats, so really just the development,” Carter said regarding his initial thoughts on the Crimson Tide.

Carter previously told On3 that he’s looking for the best scheme and best situation for him. Alabama’s defense — now led by former South Alabama head coach Kane Wommack — seemed to check off all the boxes he was looking for during his official visit.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder is the No. 132 overall prospect in the 2024 On300 and the third-ranked senior in Arizona. He’s also the No. 13 EDGE in this class, per On3. After a strong showing at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio earlier this month, Carter is a candidate for another bump before the final rankings update.
With Carter’s addition, Alabama is up to 25 total prospects in their 2024 class. Quarterback Julian Sayin and cornerback Jameer Grimsley both entered the Transfer Portal this week. There are a few signees, however, who BamaOnLine have confirmed to be solid with the Crimson Tide amidst Nick Saban‘s retirement.
The expectation is that Carter will sign with Alabama on Feb. 7 and enroll at Alabama this summer.
