Alabama junior offensive lineman JC Latham was selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night. Latham, who was in Detroit for the event, was the first Crimson Tide player and second offensive tackle off the board.

Latham started the Crimson Tide’s past 27 games at right tackle, or every game of his true sophomore and junior campaigns. This past year, Latham was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press, FWAA, The Sporting News and Walter Camp. He appeared in 40 career games, playing in 13 as a freshman reserve in 2021, before turning pro.

Latham arrived at Alabama from IMG Academy, where he was rated as the top offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. A unanimous 5-star recruit who hails from Oak Creek, Wis., Latham chose the Tide over schools like LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Latham is now the 45th first-round pick and 124th overall selection from Alabama over the last 17 years – or Nick Saban’s tenure in Tuscaloosa before his decision to retire in January. Latham is the 10th Tide offensive lineman taken in the first round during the Saban era.

“JC played great ball for us, man,” said Saban on ABC’s draft broadcast. “He was a leader on our team. You talk about being physical and dominating the line of scrimmage, this guy is as powerful as anybody we’ve ever had. When he gets his hands on you, you’ve had it. A fine young man.”
