4-star ATH flips to the Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama missed out on Daingerfield (Tx.) High School athlete Aeryn Hampton back on July 7. On that day, Hampton recommitted to the Texas Longhorns after having both Bama and Texas in his final two.
Ever persistent, Nick Saban and his staff did not give up on Hampton, and were rewarded for their efforts on Wednesday.
Alabama Early Signing Period HQ: Everything you need to know
On the first day of the Early Signing Period, Hampton announced that he had flipped to the Crimson Tide. Hampton had shut down his recruitment a week ago, but the door was slightly left open for Bama. Saban and Company swooped in to land the No. 9 athlete in the Class of 2024.
Nick Saban visited Hampton at his school during the open contact period this month. Although he did not return to Tuscaloosa in December, Hampton did sneak in for an unofficial visit during the season. He was in attendance for their game against Tennessee on Oct. 21.
BamaOnLine will look to catch up with Hampton at a later time. Down below are some of Hampton’s thoughts on Bama after officially visiting in June.

“Really, the development of the receivers and the players they’ve had,” Hampton previously said of why Bama is in his top two. “Also, the relationship I have with Coach Wiggins.
“Where campus is at, it feels like home,” Hampton said. “It’s very comfortable out there.”
Alabama is not unfamiliar with recruiting in East Texas.
Last cycle, the program signed priority targets Jalen Hale (Longview High School) and Jordan Renaud (Tyler Legacy HS). Along with landing Hampton on Wednesday, Bama signed No. 1 interior offensive lineman Casey Poe out of Lindale (Tx.) as well.
Texas recruited Hampton as a safety. The Longhorns flipped five-star S Xavier Filsaime (from Florida) and added S Andrew Mukuba (Clemson transfer) on Monday. Alabama is recruiting Hampton as an athlete as he can project on either side.
Hampton now joins an Alabama class that entered Wednesday as the No. 2 overall recruiting class in the country.
