Alabama is coming off a weekend in which they hosted nine prospects for official visits. The way things are shaping up now, the Crimson Tide will soon have their hands full with another batch of talented prospects expected on campus.

This weekend, Nick Saban and his staff will play host to over a half-dozen official visitors. A new addition to that list is five-star offensive lineman Samson Okunlola, the No. 16 overall player on the 2023 On3 Consensus.

Okunlola announced on social media on Monday that he’ll be in Tuscaloosa from June 17-19. This official visit was scheduled less than a month after Okunlola earned an offer from Alabama.

Despite the Crimson Tide entering the mix later than others, they’re making good progress with Okunlola. On top of getting an official visit from him, Alabama also earned a spot in Okunlola’s top nine earlier this month.

Per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, their early pursuit is paying off so far. The RPM gives the Crimson Tide the second-best odds (19.5 percent) at landing Okunlola, behind the Michigan State Spartans (29.5 percent).

Alabama’s standard piques Samson Okunlola’s interest

Just at the start of May, Alabama was not even an option for Okunlola. Now, they’re getting an official visit from him and are one of his finalists.

The Brockton (Mass.) Thayer Academy offensive lineman explained to On3’s Hayes Fawcett why the program is a contender for him.

“The standard there stands out to me,” Okunlola said. “The standard of winning, competing at a high level, and you have great players around you that are always looking to bring you up.”

In a separate conversation with BamaOn3, Okunlola explained that he was “really excited” after being offered by Alabama, and that he respects offensive line coach Eric Wolford. He also highlighted the large number of first-round draft picks the school has produced.

Okunlola further detailed what sticks out to him the most about Alabama.

“Just basically going to a place where you can grind and really excel at football if you put the hard work in,” Okunlola previously told BamaOn3. “Alabama, people love it over there. You have opportunities to get stuff over there, so it’s always good. Building a brand and playing football, while also getting a great education.”

Per the 2023 On3 Consensus, Okunlola is the No. 3 offensive tackle in the country. He also checks in as the top-ranked incoming senior in Massachusetts.
