9 Alabama players make Phil Steele's 2022 preseason All-American Team
Similar to Athlon Sports and Lindy’s, Phil Steele puts out his annual college football magazine every summer leading up to SEC Media Days in July. This year’s edition hasn’t officially been released yet, but Steele’s preseason All-American Team, as well as his All-SEC Team, was revealed last week.
Alabama saw nine of its players included on the All-American Team, four of which made the first team.
Quarterback Bryce Young, linebacker Will Anderson, cornerback Eli Ricks (a transfer from LSU) and safety Jordan Battle were the first-team players. The second team consisted of two more former transfers, linebacker Henry To’oTo’o and kick returner Jahmyr Gibbs. Receiver Jermaine Burton and offensive lineman Emil Ekiyor Jr. were included on the third team. Meanwhile, tight end Cameron Latu made the fourth team.
Alabama also saw 17 of its players make Phil Steele’s preseason All-SEC Team. Eight of those were on the first team (3 offense, 5 defense) with the other nine spread evenly amongst the second, third and fourth teams. Those guys, as well as all the other inclusions, can be found below.
