The talent coming out of the state of Alabama in the 2022 class is as good as ever with 66 players holding one or more offers from an FBS program. Thirty-three recruits announced commitments before the start of their senior season.

Currently, the Crimson Tide lead all schools recruiting the state, with Mississippi State trailing by one. On3 takes a look at where all 33 commits in the Alabama 2022 class are planning to enroll.

SEC keeping 14

Fourteen Alabamian prospects have opted to stay in SEC country, 11 shy of the final tally in the 2021 class.

Highlighted by the No. 1 prospect in the state, defensive end Jeremiah Alexander, and the No. 2-ranked prospect, 5-star running back Emmanuel Henderson, the Tide’s class has four of the top 15 players in the state.

Linebacker Robert Woodyard Jr. of Williamson High, Anniston athlete Antonio Kite and Calera receiver Kobe Prentice round out Nick Saban’s 2022 in-state class so far.

Surprisingly, Florida is the only SEC program that’s pulled a 4-star out of the Tide’s clutches this cycle, landing the commitment of Faith Academy DE Shemar James. Saban and the Tide are still in heavy pursuit.

Auburn’s highest ranked in-state commit was Opelika corner Jarrell Stinson, but he decommitted on July 14, then visited FSU. They still have homegrown Auburn linebacker Powell Gordon and Kohl’s No. 1-ranked kicker in the country Alex McPherson–the younger brother of Florida 5th-round draft pick Evan McPherson.

Big 10 on the prowl

Northwestern is representing the Big 10 so far in Alabama but Michigan is eyeing a couple prospects down south right now, too.

Northwestern locked in both Oak Mountain QB Evan Smith and McGill Toolen corner Braden Turner this summer.

Oregon making noise in Alabama for Pac-12

After a drought in 2021, Oregon is recruiting Alabama’s 2022 class very successfully. Four-star quarterback Tanner Bailey out of Gordo was the fourth member of the Ducks’ class. Eventually, 4-star Montgomery Catholic Prep linebacker T.J. Dudley joined in on June 28th.

Big 12 takes four from Alabama 2022 class

Due to proximity, Alabama consistently supplies the Big 12 with talent and this year is no exception. Similarly to Oregon, the Baylor Bears came to the state for their 2022 signal caller–6-foot-2 Pinson Valley 3-star Zach Pyron

  • Saraland WR Jarrell Williams – WVU
  • Saraland DL Trevon McAlpine – TCU
  • Luverne WR Nikki Taylor – Kansas

ACC trailing with four commits

Typically invaded by Clemson, Alabama hasn’t been hit hard by ACC programs in the 2022 class–yet.

Clay dual-threat Khalib Johnson chose Louisville over a handful of G5 offers while Thompson quarterback Conner Harrell picked UNC a few days after his official visit.

Impressively, Florida State landed Lafayette 4-star offensive lineman Antavious Woody despite offers from Auburn, Kentucky and Texas A&M. Woody is the No. 12-ranked prospect in Alabama’s 2022 class.

Alabama offer Trequon Fegans out of Thompson High pulled the trigger on his offer from the Miami Hurricanes, though there’s potential for the Tide to circle back around on him later in the year.

Group of five waiting on their Alabama recruits

With five months remaining until the early signing period, there are seven prospects in Alabama who’ve landed with a group of five program.

Coming off a hot season, Coastal Carolina grabbed the commitment of Hoover 3-star defensive lineman Markus Clark. Clark also holds an offer from Vanderbilt. Cincinnati snapped up the No. 12 prospect in the state in JQ Hardaway, cornerback from Central High in Phenix City.

  • Oakman DE AJ Odom – Memphis
  • Daphne DT James Quinnelly – Memphis
  • Thompson LB Jax Van Zandt – North Texas
  • Thompson WR Jaylen Ward – Middle Tennessee
