Alabama men’s basketball has reportedly added another game to its non-conference slate.

The Crimson Tide will welcome the Kent State Golden Flashes in Tuscaloosa on Sunday, Dec. 22, according to college basketball analyst Rocco Miller, in its final game before Christmas.

Kent State finished the 2023-24 season with a 17-17 overall record and an 8-10 mark in league play and lost to the only Power Six team it faced (Oregon, 84-70). Alabama’s matchup with the mid-major school will be its first since March 16, 2002, when the Golden Flashes upset the Tide in the NCAA Tournament in a meeting between the Nos. 2 and 10 seeds.

Kent State is led by Rob Senderoff, who is entering his 14th year as the head coach. He is the all-time winningest coach in school history with 264 wins and is familiar with Alabama’s Nate Oats, who he faced 10 times in Oats’ time at Buffalo. Oats was 7-3 in those contests.

The home game against Kent State is the latest game added to Alabama’s 2024-25 schedule. The Crimson Tide will also welcome Creighton and McNeese State to Tuscaloosa, face Illinois in Birmingham, travel to Purdue and take part in the Players Era Festival, along with Creighton, Houston, Notre Dame, Oregon, Rutgers, San Diego State and Texas A&M.
