The AP Top 25 Poll released its preseason men’s basketball rankings Monday morning, and the Alabama men’s basketball team, in its fifth year under coach Nate Oats, checked in at No. 24. It marks the third year in a row UA is ranked prior to the season. Last year, it was at 20th.

The Crimson Tide was one of five schools from the Southeastern Conference among the top 25 along with Tennessee at No. 9, Arkansas (No. 14), Texas A&M (15) and Kentucky (16).

UA’s schedule currently features seven preseason top-25 teams in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Kentucky, No. 3 Purdue, No. 8 Creighton and No. 12 Arizona. The Crimson Tide will take on the Vols twice and will play Purdue, Creighton, Arizona and Kentucky on the road.

Alabama will open the 2023-24 regular season at home on Monday, Nov. 6, against Morehead State. Prior to that, the Tide will play in a closed scrimmage against TCU in Birmingham and then travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to play Wake Forest in a charity exhibition Oct. 29.
