Alabama guard Mark Sears named second-team All-American by AP

Alabama men’s basketball guard Mark Sears has been named to the 2024 Associated Press All-America Second Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.

This is the second straight year Alabama has had a player earn AP All-America honors (Brandon Miller, 2023) and the third UA player to be named to an All-America team under head coach Nate Oats (Herbert Jones, 2021).

  • Sears is one of three SEC players to be named to an AP All-America team, tied for the most (Big East) by any conference in the country
  • Named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, which annually recognizes the top point guard in Division I
  • A 2024 First Team All-SEC selection
  • Selected to the Wooden Award ballot
  • Ranks No. 1in the SEC in scoring (21.1 ppg), No. 6 in field goal percentage (50.4) and No. 6 in assists (4.1 apg)
  • Sears has scored 20 or more points in 22 games this season, the most by an Alabama player since Reggie King’s school record 23 games in 1978-79
  • Sears is one of two players in Division I and the only Power 5 player this year that has 675 points, 130 assists, 125 rebounds and 75 three-pointers
