Alabama guard Rylan Griffen expected to enter NCAA transfer portal
Alabama sophomore guard Rylan Griffen is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal, BamaOnLine has learned. 24/7 High School Hoops was the first to report the move.
Griffen becomes the second scholarship Crimson Tide player to transfer after the 2023-24 season, joining Kris Parker.
In only his second season at Alabama, Griffen averaged 26.3 minutes while participating in 36 games (33 starts). He was one of four players to average double-digit points, too, posting 11.2 per game while adding 3.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and shooting 39.2 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

His career-high in points currently sits at 21, which he scored twice this season against Missouri and Kentucky. There was a rough stretch in January where he struggled from deep, but he turned things around in the NCAA Tournament, averaging 12.4 points while shooting 48.1 percent (13-of-27) from beyond the arc. The 19 points against No. 1 seed North Carolina was a career-best in postseason play.
Coming out of Richardson (Texas) High School during the 2022 cycle, Griffen was considered a top 50-60 player. The On3 Industry Rankings that year had him rated as a 4-star recruit, the No. 45 player nationally, the No. 4 shooting guard and the No. 5 player from the state of Texas. Griffen chose Alabama over Oklahoma, North Carolina, Kansas State and several others.
