Alabama issued its first availability report for tomorrow’s home game versus Ole Miss.

The Crimson Tide will welcome the Rebels to Coleman Coliseum on Tuesday, January 14, for a top-25 matchup. The SEC game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. CT and air on ESPNU.

Latrell Wrightsell, who is out for the season with an Achilles injury, has been on every report this season. But Houston Mallette has been included in the last two now. A Pepperdine transfer, Mallette was initially going to redshirt, but after Wrightsell’s injury, he leaped into action. He is averaging 8.0 minutes per game but only played a combined five minutes during Alabama’s first two conference games and did not play the last time out at Texas A&M.

Alabama head coach Nate Oats provided an update on Mallette’s health on Monday.

“Houston had two really bad knees when he came in,” Oats said. “He’s made a ton of progress on them since he got here. They continue to have to be evaluated and he goes backwards on some stuff. He’s still got a limited practice deal so we’re gonna keep him out tomorrow.”

Also on the initial availability report for the Alabama-Ole Miss clash was Crimson Tide freshman forward Derrion Reid. Oats didn’t provide an update on Reid during his press conference, but the 5-star missed the South Dakota State game due to an ankle injury.

With Mallette and Wrightsell out – and Naas Cunningham redshirting – Alabama will be down to 10 available scholarship players for its home game in Tuscaloosa tomorrow night.

Alabama and Ole Miss must update their availability reports 90 minutes before tip-off.

SEC Availability Report Policies

Beginning with the 2024-25 athletics season, all Southeastern Conference schools will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes to participate in each conference game in the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.

Prior to an SEC basketball game, an institution must issue the Initial Report the night before a game by 7 p.m. CT (or, for an institution that played a game the day before, by 11:00 am local time the day of the game, or two hours before the game starts, whichever is earlier).

Designated Participation Statuses

If an institution has knowledge that a student-athlete may not be able to participate in the upcoming game for any reason (including, but not limited to, injury, illness, suspension, ineligibility, or personal matter), the institution must accurately designate the student-athlete’s participation status on the Initial Report as follows:

– Out – Will not play / 0% chance to play

– Doubtful – Unlikely to play / 25% chance to play

– Questionable – Uncertain to play / 50% chance to play

– Probable – Probable to play / 75% chance to play
