Alabama basketball lands 6-seed in NCAA Tournament
The Alabama basketball team now knows who its first-round opponent will be in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. After checking in as a No. 6 seed, the Crimson Tide will play the winner of the 11-seed play-in game between Rutgers and Notre Dame on Friday, March 18 in San Diego, Calif.
Alabama (19-13, 9-9 SEC) is currently on a three-game losing skid and has also dropped four of its last six. Most recently, the Tide blew a 15-point lead against Vanderbilt in the second round of the SEC Tournament and lost 82-76. Still, there’s at least some optimism that this group can get things turned around, but it has to start on Friday.
The Scarlet Knights went 18-13 (12-8 Big Ten) while also losing four of their last six games.
Meanwhile, the Fighting Irish are currently 22-10 (15-5 ACC) and have been impressive since the start of the new year. They started 4-5 before going 18-5 over their last 23 games. They did lose by 7 to Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament though.
