Alabama basketball rises in AP Poll after UNC win
Alabama basketball rose in Monday’s AP Poll, jumping three spots to No. 7.
The rise comes off a week where the Crimson Tide went into Chapel Hill and trounced then-No. 20 North Carolina, winning by 15. It was Alabama’s third win over a ranked team this season.
In the current top 25, Alabama holds one ranked win over No. 15 Houston. The Crimson Tide’s two losses so far this year have also come to currently ranked team, being No. 11 Purdue and No. 12 Oregon.
The SEC continues to look like the best league in college basketball this season, currently having 9 teams ranked in this week’s poll. Alabama is the fourth-highest ranked SEC team, behind No. 1 Tennessee, No. 2 Auburn and No. 5 Kentucky, while ahead of No. 9 Florida, No. 13 Oklahoma, No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 19 Ole Miss and No. 25 Mississippi State.

Nate Oats scheduled an excellent non-conference slate for Alabama once again, and the last of its marquee opponents will visit Saturday as Creighton comes to Tuscaloosa. The Bluejays started the season ranked in the top-20 and have since dropped out, but beat No. 1 Kansas just a few days ago.
In other metrics, Alabama currently sits at No. 7 in KenPom and No. 10 in the NET rankings from the NCAA.
