Alabama basketball rises in newest AP Poll
Coming off another marquee non-conference win, this one over Creighton, Alabama basketball rose one spot from No. 7 to No. 6 in the Dec. 16 AP Poll.
Alabama still holds a win over a team ranked in the current poll in No. 15 Houston, with wins over three teams receiving votes in Illinois, North Carolina and Creighton. The Crimson Tide’s two losses have come to ranked teams in No. 16 Purdue and No. 10 Oregon.

The SEC has been the best conference in college basketball by a longshot this season, and that’s reflected by having over half the league ranked in the top 25. Alabama is the fourth-highest SEC team in the poll, trailing No. 1 Tennessee, No. 2 Auburn and No. 4 Kentucky, while ahead of No. 7 Florida, No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 14 Oklahoma and No. 17 Ole Miss.
In the computer metrics, Alabama currently sits at No. 8 in KenPom and No. 10 in the NET with its 8-2 record entering the final stretch of non-conference play.
