The Alabama men’s basketball team will travel to play Wake Forest in a charity exhibition game prior to the start of the 2023-24 season, the Demon Deacons announced on Tuesday.

The exhibition game will take place on Sunday, Oct. 29, at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. Admission is free, but fans are encouraged to donate to help stroke research at the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Stroke Center.

“We are excited and honored to partner with Wake Forest for this meaningful event,” said Alabama head coach Nate Oats in a release. “To be able to play an exhibition game and help people in need is a great opportunity that goes beyond basketball. At the same time, it will also give us an opportunity to test ourselves against a quality program in Wake Forest.”

Wake Forest finished last season with a 19-14 (10-10 ACC) record, and the Demon Deacons return six letter-winners and three starters from last year’s team. Alabama is 2-5 all-time against Wake Forest and last met in the 1999 NIT – a game in which Wake Forest won 73-57.

The Crimson Tide is set to open the season on Monday, Nov. 6, against Morehead State.
