Alabama CBs Terrion Arnold, Kool-Aid McKinstry plan to enter NFL draft
Alabama will have two new starting cornerbacks for the 2024 college football season, as both Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold plan to enter the 2024 NFL Draft, ESPN reports.
Starting all 14 games on the opposite sides of the Crimson Tide defense, McKinstry and Arnold were two of the nation’s top-graded defensive backs, according to Pro Football Focus. Among players who have been in coverage on 80 percent of their snaps entering bowl season, McKinstry has graded out at seventh nationally with Arnold slightly behind in ninth.
McKinstry was targeted just 37 times in 13 games, allowing 183 total receiving yards, and ranked 12th in forced incompletions with 10. Arnold was sixth in forced incompletions (13) with a 52.5 NFL passer rating on his targets. The redshirt sophomore’s 12 pass breakups by PFF were third nationally while his five interceptions were the second-most in the country.

Arnold and McKinstry join safety Jaylen Key, who exhausted his college eligibility this season, in leaving the program after the end of the 2023 campaign. However, Alabama is expected to welcome back seniors Trey Amos, who told BamaOnLine he’ll return next fall, and Malachi Moore, who BOL reported is trending toward a return. The Tide is also set to have freshman All-American Caleb Downs back for a second year at the safety position.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is Monday, Jan. 15.
The 2024 NFL Draft is set for Thursday, April 25, through Saturday, April 27, in Detroit.
