For the second day in a row, the Alabama Crimson Tide cracked the top four for a 2023 target in the trenches.

On Thursday, coveted defensive lineman Peter Woods put Alabama in a top schools group that also featured Clemson, Florida, and Oklahoma. Less than 24 hours, Finland native Olaus Alinen labeled the program as one of his finalists.

Joining Alabama in the final group for the four-star offensive lineman are Georgia, Miami, and Ohio State. Alinen released this list less than a week after taking a two-day visit to Tuscaloosa.

When speaking with On3 National Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, Alinen said he will take officials to each school. Miami will get him on campus the first weekend of June, followed by Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State the following three weekends.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine heavily favors the Crimson Tide for Alinen. According to the RPM, Alabama has a 71.8 percent chance of landing Alinen, followed by Ohio State (21.7 percent).

At this time, no predictions have been submitted on Alinen’s On3 profile.

Olaus Alinen enjoyed his return trip to Alabama

Last weekend, Alinen took his second visit to Alabama. That trip began on Friday and ended on Saturday, allowing Alinen to get an up-close at one of their practices.

Alinen, who straps up the pads for The Loomis Chaffee School in Connecticut, described his time in Tuscaloosa as “successful.”

“It went really good. I had a good time there,” Alinen previously told BCS. “Honestly just wanted to go there to see the practice, see the player meetings, see them in action, and get to spend some time with the players. I was able to do that. So, it was a really successful trip.”

In Alinen’s conversation with Simmons, he detailed why each of his finalists made the cut for him. Alabama offensive line coach Eric Wolford was cited by Alinen in his breakdown of the Crimson Tide.

“I got to spend time with Coach Wolford and see practice on my last visit,” Alinen told Simmons. “The practice was really what I expected to be like. There was a lot of competition, they were intense, and there was energy.

“Coach Wolford was great too. He cares about coaching, he is good at developing players, and he knows what he is doing.”

Getting Alinen in the fold would be an important addition for an Alabama program that signed just three offensive linemen last cycle. The 6-foot-6, 311-pounder checks in as the No. 17 offensive tackle on On3’s Class of 2023 Rankings.
