Alabama (9-1, 7-0 SEC) is rolling nowadays. Three-straight games consisting of No. 21 Tennessee, No. 15 LSU and Kentucky on the road. The Crimson Tide won all three by at least two touchdowns, including an impressive 49-21 beatdown of the Wildcats on Saturday. Yet, Nick Saban and company remain at No. 8 in the latest AP Poll.

It’s the same situation as the Coaches Poll, which was released only an hour before the AP came out. None of the teams in the top-8 lost this weekend, and no one did enough for there to be any changes. Georgia was already ranked No. 1 in both, so its 52-17 stomping of now No. 13 Ole Miss can’t change anything for them. We may see some movement in the College Football Playoff rankings though, which currently has Ohio State sitting in the top spot.

That would be good news for Alabama too, as the Crimson Tide are now set to play the Bulldogs in Atlanta on Dec. 2 with a chance at an SEC crown. And with UA currently sitting at No. 8 in the Playoff rankings, a statement win during conference championship weekend could be enough to vault them into the top-4 before it’s all said and done. A lot has to happen before then though, as Alabama has UT-Chattanooga and Auburn up first.
