Alabama (8-1, 6-0 SEC) got a two-touchdown victory over LSU (6-3, 4-2 SEC) on Saturday, but it still wasn’t enough to help its standing in the Coaches Poll. As of Sunday, the Crimson Tide are still checking in at No. 8 despite the impressive win. The Tigers, on the other hand, only dropped six spots from No. 13 to No. 19.

Looking at Alabama’s resume as a whole, it’s one of the most impressive in the country. Sure, the 10-point loss to No. 7 Texas (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) inside Bryant-Denny Stadium still stings, but the Crimson Tide has two touchdown wins over No. 10 Ole Miss, No. 12 Tennessee and No. 19 LSU. Things won’t get much easier in Week 11 either, as UA travels to Lexington to play a Kentucky squad who’s a borderline top-25 team.

Kickoff for that game is set for 11 a.m. CT and will air on ESPN. Then, Alabama will return home to play UT-Chattanooga at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18. I’m sure UA will be a heavy favorite in that one, but the Mocs are 7-3 this season. After those matchups, Nick Saban and company will get back out on the road to play Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

If Alabama can avoid back-to-back SEC losses to finish the regular season, it’ll play the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (9-0, 6-0 SEC) in Atlanta for the SEC Championship. The victor of that game will then go on to the College Football Playoff for a chance at a national championship. In other words, things are shaping up for an exciting finish, but the Tide have to continue to build on Saturday’s performance in order for that to happen.
