Alabama DB Dezz Ricks plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Alabama cornerback Dezz Ricks plans to enter the transfer portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Ricks is the second Crimson Tide player to enter the transfer portal after head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement. Players have an additional 30-day window to transfer with a change in head coach. This comes after the 30-day window window in December.
A true freshman last season, Ricks appeared in two of Alabama’s 14 games this past season – Kentucky and Chattanooga – seeing the field as a defensive reserve in back-to-back games. He did not record any stats in his first season of college. Now, he will look to play elsewhere.
Ricks reclassified to the 2023 class and was still a 5-star recruit for his new cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. The Norfolk, Va., native was considered the second-best corner in the class and the nation’s No. 18 overall recruit after moving up a cycle. Ricks ultimately chose to commit to the Crimson Tide over LSU, Florida and Florida State.

Alabama already has to replace both of its starting cornerbacks with Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold declaring for the NFL draft. Now, one of its top contenders is transferring.
