Alabama DB Keon Sabb will return for redshirt junior year in 2025
Defensive back Keon Sabb will return to Alabama for his redshirt junior season in 2025.
“This past year with the Crimson Tide has been special to me,” Sabb said in a statement on social media. “Since stepping foot on campus, Alabama has felt like home. I have met so many great people and grown significantly, but I feel like there’s more left for me here.
“This season ended early for me and it did not finish the way any of us wanted. I have a lot left to help this team accomplish, and I look forward to leading the 2025 group. I cannot wait to get back on the field and start working toward our ultimate goal of winning a national championship.
“Let’s run it back – Roll Tide!”
In his first year at Alabama, Sabb appeared in and started the first seven games of the Crimson Tide’s 2024 campaign before suffering a season-ending injury at Tennessee. Before his setback, Sabb was responsible for 39 tackles, two interceptions and four pass breakups.
The Michigan transfer made an immediate impact on the Tide’s defense, not only as a starting safety alongside veteran Malachi Moore but also as a leader. Members of Alabama’s leadership council asked first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer to add Sabb in the summer.

Sabb began his college career in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he played in 18 games, including four starts, in two seasons. After redshirting in 2022, Sabb helped the Wolverines win a national championship in 2023, playing in 14 games with five starts. He registered 28 tackles, including half a tackle for loss, seven pass breakups and a pair of interceptions.
With Sabb returning, Alabama will welcome back a full secondary that received first-team reps this past year. Bray Hubbard, who filled in for Sabb after his injury, will be back to man the back end of the defense, and Domani Jackson and Zabien Brown return as the starting cornerbacks. DaShawn Jones also started the bowl game at the Husky position.
