Alabama defensive lineman Jamil Burroughs has entered the transfer portal, BamaOnLine has learned. He is the fourth Crimson Tide player to transfer either during or after spring practice.

Burroughs had reportedly faced “discipline that could have a significant effect on his status with the team,” TideIllustrated stated earlier this month. Two weeks later, Burroughs is in the portal.

Burroughs, a redshirt junior, has played in 20 games over the last three seasons, including 11 in 2022. He served a rotational role this past year and registered eight tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack in his third year in the program. Burroughs spent time training in Tampa after the spring semester ended, and teammates praised him for his ability as an interior rusher.

“Jamil Burroughs is one of the best pass rushers in the nation,” offensive lineman Tyler Booker said. “I’m excited for him to go out and show it this year. Jamil is so quick and he’s very smart as well. We’ve been out here playing for a month … so we kind of got to make sure we have the same stance every time and we also try to not say the play out loud because they’re starting to pick up on that as well. I’m very excited to see him and the rest of the D-line ball out this year.”
