Alabama defensive lineman Tim Keenan will return to the Crimson Tide for his final year of eligibility in 2025, he announced on Saturday.

“When I committed to Alabama my goal was to win a National Championship and that’s what I will work every single day to do, in Jesus’ name,” Keenan wrote in an Instagram post. “With 1 year of eligibility left, I’ll be returning for the 2025 season. I can’t wait to get back to work!”

Keenan has been with the Crimson Tide for four seasons, coming in as a 4-star recruit out of Birmingham in the 2021 recruiting cycle. He redshirted his first season and has spent the past three years gaining more and more playing time, serving as a starter this past season.

As a full-time starter in 2024, Keenan totaled 36 tackles and 2.5 sacks, good enough for third on the team. Current mock drafts had Keenan projected anywhere from a day three pick in the NFL Draft (Rounds 4-7) to going undrafted, and he’ll have another year to improve his draft stock.

Outside of Keenan, Alabama’s defensive tackle unit lost three names to the transfer portal in Jehiem Oatis, Hunter Osborne and Damon Payne, with Tim Smith also exiting due to exhausting his eligibility. The Crimson Tide’s top returner at the defensive tackle spot is James Smith, who was a primary rotational player last season.
